Pioneer Trail | North Temple to 300 N. | Improved

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is building a portion of the Pioneer Trail on State Street between North Temple and 200 North in Salt Lake City.

Overview

Project Overview

Construction Begins on New Segment of the Pioneer Trail

We are building a portion of the Pioneer Trail on State Street between North Temple and 200 North in Salt Lake City.

We are partnering with the Pioneer Trail Foundation for this project. The 1.3-mile walking route will connect Temple Square to City Creek Canyon, providing easier access to museums, monuments, gardens, and more.

To make room for the trail, the travel lanes on State Street will be narrowed. The dedicated right-turn lane for southbound State Street drivers at the intersection of State and North Temple will be removed.

Renderings for the trail can be viewed on the foundation's website.

Construction is expected to start as soon as Monday, Sept. 14, and finish by the end of November. Landscaping work and minor traffic shifts will occur through the end of December.

See the Impacts & Updates tab for more construction information.
