U.S. Route 191 Indian Canyon Corridor
Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has multiple improvements planned and proposed for U.S. Route 191 Indian Canyon Corridor over the next two years to ensure the road withstands the projected additional heavy vehicle traffic and to improve safety for all travelers on the route. The 45-mile corridor runs from Duchesne to Helper.
Nearly $104 million has been allocated for improvements to the corridor. The Utah Legislature appropriated $88.5 million in their 2023 session, and UDOT has provided just over $15.49 million in additional state and federal funding for improvements to the US-191 Indian Canyon corridor.
During the 2024 construction season, three projects are scheduled to be completed:
- A southbound passing lane on US-191 between milepost 280 to 282
- A pavement preservation project that will place fresh pavement, update existing guardrails, and install four cattleguards at multiple locations on US-191 from US-6 to US-40
- Improvements to the intersection of US-191 and US-6
