TOWARD ZERO BALTIMORE: IMPROVING ROAD SAFETY
Each year, Toward Zero Baltimore focuses on improving safety and accessibility in neighborhoods with higher-than-average injury crash rates. The City is doing this with quick-build traffic calming solutions to enhance safety. These lower-cost projects are designed to make a big impact fast.
The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (BCDOT) invites residents to learn more about their current projects and share feedback on neighborhood safety concerns.

MOVING STONEY RUN TRAIL FORWARD
After months of community engagement, research, and design, the BRTB shared the location of the Patapsco Regional Greenway Stoney Run Trail with the community in November. Nearly 80 comments were received and around a dozen people joined staff for a community meeting in December.
We are excited to share that 86% of participants are happy with the location. Check out the top 5 things people like:
- Reduces on road trail segments
- Increases safety for users
- Offers beautiful, natural views
- Improves connections between places
- Lowers the chances of traffic issues
The project team is finalizing the 30% design phase. Next, BMC will transfer the project to Anne Arundel and Howard counties for final design and construction, depending on funding availability.

CREATING A BIKEABLE BALTIMORE REGION
In November, we shared the Proposed Regional Bike Network and invited feedback. We appreciate everyone who shared their time, knowledge, and ideas to help make sure this bike network best serves the region.
During the Bikeable Baltimore Region’s Presenting Phase, we:
🚴 Talked with 113 people at public meetings
💬 Reviewed 601 comments on the online map
📝 Gathered 159 survey responses
🌐 Reached over 5,700 through our project website
🗺️ Had over 2,500 StoryMap views
What’s next? We are reviewing feedback to update the regional bike network. Then, we will create an implementation plan. Projects will be prioritized into three categories:
- Priority Gaps (next 5 years)
- Intermediate Expansion (5–10 years)
- Long-Term Growth (10+ years)
Stay tuned for June 2025 when we release an updated network, cost estimates, success measures, and more.
