The Austin City Council has unanimously approved Austin Energy’s Resource, Generation and Climate Protection Plan to 2035—a strategic pathway to meet Austin’s rising energy needs. This plan was drafted with strong community input and is guided by the core values of reliability, affordability, environmental sustainability and energy equity. Austin Energy is exploring solutions to enhance local reliability while advancing Austin’s clean energy goals.

In April 2026, Austin Energy hosted a series of Energy Reliability Workshops across Austin. These workshops gave an overview of how Austin Energy is implementing the 2035 Plan. Although workshops have concluded, a virtual recording is available along with additional resources.
